Rourkela: A 25-year-old woman was arrested in Sundargarh district's Chinimahul village on Saturday night for allegedly bobbitising her husband and attempting to kill him over a marital dispute.
Police said Sanjit Nag (29) and his wife, Birso, often got involved in argument as he suspected she was having an affair with another man.
On Tuesday morning, he questioned Birso again about her alleged extramarital relationship. In the afternoon, while he was asleep, Birso bobbitised him with a blade. She attacked him again with the blade when he woke up and screamed for help.
The villagers came to help hearing his screams and rescued the critically injured Sanjit. He was shifted to the Rajgangpur community health centre and later admitted to a private hospital in Rourkela.
Birso tried to run towards the forest, but villagers caught her and informed Rajgangpur police, who reached the spot and conducted an inquiry. On Thursday, Geeta Nag, Birso's cousin sister lodged an FIR but the accused had fled to her village.
When she returned to Chinimahul on Saturday, Birso was arrested. "We are further investigating the case." said Jharana Swain, sub-inspector, Rajgangpur police station.
