Bhopal/Jabalpur: A sessions court in
Jabalpur has handed life imprisonment to a man and his two sons for beating their neighbour to death in a dispute that stemmed from fetching water. The court of judge MD Rajak that held them guilty also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on each of the convicts.
The prosecution said the attack took place on Sept 9, 2024, in Khamariya area of Jabalpur. Pooran Yadav and his brother Akhilesh were feeding cattle at home when their neighbour
Sandeep Yadav arrived wielding an axe and began hurling abuses, angered by a quarrel earlier that morning over fetching water.
Within minutes, Sandeep’s brother Pradeep and their father
Jagannath joined him, carrying lathis. While Pooran managed to get away, Akhilesh was surrounded and assaulted repeatedly before the trio fled into jungles. Akhilesh was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
