Lok Adalat for electricity consumers on Sept 14: MP’s central discom
Bhopal: Lok Adalat will be held on September 14 to resolve the energy-related disputes that people and consumers may be facing in the 16 districts that come under the central discom.In an official statement, the discom has appealed to electricity consumers and users to contact the relevant electricity office to settle the cases in court under Section 135 of the Electricity Act 2003, to avoid unpleasant legal proceedings.Discom has decided to grant relief in cases pending in court under Section 135 to all domestic, all agricultural, non-domestic up to 5 kilowatts, and industrial consumers up to 10 horsepower in the low-tension category.At the pre-litigation level, a 30% concession will be given on the amount of civil liability assessed by the company, and a 100% concession will be given on the interest amount calculated at an annual rate of 16% compounded semi-annually, which accrues after 30 days from the date of issuance of the assessment order in case of default in payment of the assessed amount.At the litigation level, a 20% concession will be given on the amount of civil liability assessed by the company, and a 100% concession will be given on the interest amount calculated at an annual rate of 16% compounded semi-annually, which accrues after 30 days from the date of issuance of the assessment order in case of default in payment of the assessed amount, said sources.
