Drug racket busted; cocaine seized

BANGALORE: The Ramamurthynagar police have busted an inter-state drug racket and seized cocaine worth Rs 50 lakh. Muthu Kumaran of Puducherry and Shivaram of TC Palya in Bangalore have been arrested.
The kingpin of the racket is said to be Charles of Puducherry and he is on the run. Muthu Kumaran befriended Charles in Puducherry and bought cocaine from him.Later, Muthu met Shivaram in Bangalore. The duo first surveyed a few pockets — colleges, snooker clubs and pubs — to spot their potential customers.
They booked a room at a hotel in Hoskote and used to come to the city in a car. They even sold some cocaine to selected customers.
The police recovered some cocaine along with a pen drive, a car and mobile phone. The duo was produced before a local court and remanded to police custody. "They were trying to establish a base for their trade in the city. There are some more players in the racket and a team will be sent to Puducherry to track down the kingpin and his other associates," police said.
