Pilibhit: Police registered a case on Monday against a man for allegedly posting a doctored image of PM Narendra Modi on Instagram depicting him in attire associated with another faith, stating that the post was intended to promote enmity and disturb communal harmony under Jahanabad police station limits. The complaint against Mohammad Arbaz, from Bisen village, was filed by sub-inspector Gyan Chandra, posted at Jahanabad police station.
Chandra said, "During the inquiry, we visited village Bisen and found evidence that the altered image of the PM had been uploaded through Arbaz's Instagram account. The post was aimed at spreading hatred between people of two different faiths and could provoke members of one community to commit offences against another."
SHO Pradeep Kumar Vishnoi said, "We have registered the case under BNS section 353(2), which deals with promoting feelings of enmity, hatred or ill will between groups by circulating false information or rumours.We are trying to trace the accused, who was not found in the village."
