Pilibhit: A 35-year-old man was killed and two others were injured after a dumper hit two trucks parked near a petrol pump on Pilibhit-Basti NH-730, close to Jara police outpost under Gajraula police station in Pilibhit district on Tuesday.
Police said Sohan Pal suffered critical injuries, while Rajendra Sharma, 43, and Sonu Yadav, 38, sustained minor injuries. All three were taken to the primary health centre in Gajraula. Sohan Pal was referred to the autonomous state medical college but died while being shifted.
Officials said the two trucks had reached a nearby weighbridge before loading wheat straw. As one of the trucks was reversing after weighing when a speeding dumper coming from the Puranpur side rammed into it.
The impact pushed the truck into another truck parked on the roadside.
At the same time, a stone ballast-laden truck coming from Pilibhit city collided with the dumper and the two trucks, worsening the crash.
Police reached the spot and cleared the road with the help of a crane. SHO Brajveer Singh said the dumper and all three trucks were impounded. He added that an FIR would be registered after receiving a written complaint.
