Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) workers staged a rasta roko protest at Kranti Chowk on Wednesday against central govt's policies, including foreign policy decisions, briefly halting traffic.
A group of VBA workers gathered at the busy junction in the afternoon, accusing Union govt of adopting policies they claimed were harmful to the country. Deputy commissioner of police (zone-I) Pankaj Atulkar said the protest had been held with prior permission. "We are still looking into one incident that took place," he said.
During the agitation, VBA members alleged that various deals with the US had compromised India's sovereignty. Holding placards and banners, demonstrators sat on the road and blocked traffic for a short duration, causing a temporary disruption at the busy junction that connects several key city roads. Motorists were seen waiting as police worked to clear the area and divert vehicles to alternate routes.
