Two cases of domestic violence

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The city police have registered two separate cases of domestic violence in the past 24-hours by Sunday morning.In a case registered with Harsul police station, a woman from Buddhi Lane area has accused her husband and six in-laws of domestic violence. "The victim aid that her husband and in-laws were demanding Rs10 lakh from her parents since the marriage. She was subjected to mental and physical torture since Dec 2023," police said.In another similar case with City Chowk police station, one 35-year-old woman has accused her husband of demanding money ever since the marriage took place in November 2018. The victim in her complaint has accused the husband of abusing and assaulting her.In both cases, police have invoked Section 85 (cruelty to a woman by her husband or his relatives.) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 among other charges.
