Ahmedabad: Site supervisor killed as construction gondola crashes in Bodakdev

Ahmedabad: A site supervisor was killed and a worker injured after a suspended working platform (gondola) collapsed at the site of a commercial building on the Iskcon-Ambli Road on Thursday. The accident occurred at a project on TP Scheme No. 51. Officials said the building on Final Plot No. 66 had already been completed, with finishing work in progress.During the painting activity on the fourth floor, the suspended gondola allegedly snapped and crashed to the ground from a height, killing the site supervisor on the spot.The deceased has been identified as Avinash Brahmbhatt, a native of Matar in Kheda district. Another worker suffered multiple injuries, including a broken leg, and was rushed to Civil Hospital in Asarwa for treatment. According to civic authorities, the construction was carried out in line with approvals issued under a development plan for a multi-storey commercial structure consisting of three basements, a ground floor, and 13 upper floors.The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) directed an immediate suspension of all work at the site. Notices have been issued to the developer, owners, architect, engineer and other technical personnel on record, directing them to submit an explanation within 24 hours. Police have registered a case of accidental death and begun an investigation into the circumstances leading to the collapse.
