On the third consecutive day, the city remained the hottest in Gujarat with the maximum temperature reaching 42 degrees celsius, which was 1.1 degrees above normal. At 29.6 degrees, the minimum temperature was 1.6 degrees higher than normal. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ahmedabad’s maximum temperature on Wednesday is likely to be around 42 degrees celsius. There will be no respite from the hot and humid conditions across Gujarat for a couple of days, the weather office has forecast.The relative humidity in Ahmedabad was 63% at 8.30am and 37% at 5.30pm on Tuesday. The forecast indicated steady progress of southwest monsoon, which is likely to make advances in parts of central Arabian Sea, Maharashtra, and Karnataka. IMD said that south Gujarat and coastal Saurashtra could receive some rainfall by the end of the week.Other cities and towns with high temperatures included Bhavnagar (41.6 degrees), Gandhinagar (41.5 degrees), and Surendranagar (41.3 degrees).
