AGARTALA: Stating that Tripura is facing a crisis of food and jobs, Gana Mukti Parisad (GMP), the tribal wing of
CPM, on Saturday threatened to launch protests in administrative blocks in the hills. GMP state secretary Radhacharan Debbarma told media that most of the elected committees in the Panchayats and village councils under ADCs had to resign following pressure from BJP and IPFT supporters after they came to power.
He added that block development officers cannot sanction any new work and disbursement of payments under the MGNREA has also been held up, which has badly affected the rural economy.
