Alliance tallies shift across Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Puducherry and Kerala
Counting is underway across four states and results are taking shape at different paces. In Tamil Nadu, where 118 seats are needed for a majority in the 234-seat assembly, independent and smaller party candidates cumulatively hold a tally of 115 seats, with 10 declared wins and 105 leads, leaving them just 3 short of the majority mark. SPA has a tally of 60, with 7 won and 53 leading, while NDA is at 55 seats, all in leads with no wins declared yet. In West Bengal, BJP is leading in enough seats to cross the majority mark of 148 in the 294-seat house, holding a tally of 179 across 11 declared wins and 168 leads. TMC trails with a tally of 106, comprising 2 wins and 104 leads. Candidates from other parties or independents cumulatively lead in 8 seats in the state. In Puducherry, NDA has crossed the majority mark of 16 in the 30-seat assembly, with 13 seats won and 5 more in hand for a tally of 18, if those leads hold. SPA has a tally of 5 across 2 wins and 3 leads. Kerala's 140-seat assembly requires 71 for a majority. UDF holds a tally of 87, with 68 declared wins and 19 leads, comfortably past the majority mark if current leads hold. LDF has 30 wins and 6 leads for a tally of 36. Candidates from other parties or independents cumulatively account for a tally of 17 in the state.
