Alliance tallies shift across Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Puducherry and Kerala
Counting is underway across four states and results are shaping up at a brisk pace. In Tamil Nadu, where 118 seats are needed for a majority in the 234-seat assembly, independent and smaller party candidates cumulatively hold a tally of 115 seats, with 10 declared and 105 leads still in play, leaving them just 3 short of the majority mark. SPA has a tally of 60 seats while NDA is at 55, both trailing well behind the front-runners at this stage. In West Bengal, BJP is leading in enough seats to cross the majority mark of 148 in the 294-seat house if those leads hold, carrying a tally of 179 with 11 seats won and 168 leads. TMC is trailing with a tally of 106, comprising 2 won and 104 leading seats. Candidates from other parties or independent candidates cumulatively lead in 8 seats in West Bengal. Puducherry's 30-seat assembly requires 16 for a majority, and NDA is leading in enough seats to cross that mark if those leads hold, with a tally of 18 drawn from 13 won and 5 leading seats. SPA has a tally of 5 in Puducherry, with 2 won and 3 leading. In Kerala, UDF holds a tally of 87 across the 140-seat assembly, where the majority mark stands at 71. With 68 seats already won and 19 leads in hand, UDF is leading in enough seats to cross the majority mark if those leads hold. LDF is trailing with a tally of 36, comprising 30 won and 6 leading seats. Candidates from other parties or independent candidates cumulatively hold a tally of 17 seats in Kerala.
