Behind Your Touch Season 1 Review : This K-drama is an engaging blend of mystery, humour and supernatural powers

STORY: A veterinarian with psychometric powers, and a hot-blooded and grumpy detective who work with each other while solving minor crime cases in a small town in Mujin, South Korea.

REVIEW: ‘Behind Your Touch’ is an engaging K-drama series that blends elements of mystery, comedy, and supernatural abilities in a small-town setting. The story revolves around Bong Ye-boon (Han Ji-min), a veterinarian with psychometric powers that allow her to see the past of individuals or animals by touching their behind, and Detective Moon Jang-yeol (Lee Min-ki), a hot-headed detective who has been demoted to a rural village named Mujin due to his temperamental nature. The two characters form an unlikely partnership as they team up to solve minor crime cases in the town.

As a 16-episode series featuring nearly hourly installments, ‘Behind Your Touch’ succeeds in delivering genuine comedic moments. It highlights the dynamic between the two main characters, Ye-boon and Jang-yeol, and how their contrasting personalities and abilities drive the storyline forward. Ye-boon's psychic powers add a unique twist to the traditional detective genre, while Jang-yeol's grumpy demeanour and determination to return to the city provide a source of tension and humour throughout the series.

The direction led by Kim Suk-Yoon and the writing by Lee Nam-Kyu contribute to the series' appeal, offering a novel narrative accompanied by witty dialogues and well-structured character development. Although the series is still in its initial stages, with just two episodes released and the remaining 14 episodes scheduled to premiere weekly on Saturdays and Sundays, there is a palpable sense of excitement regarding the potential twists and turns that lie ahead.

So far, Han Ji-min's portrayal of the skilled and innocent veterinarian is commendable, while Lee Min-ki effortlessly encapsulates the persona of a rebellious law enforcement officer. The secret of Ye-boon's psychometric abilities, yet to be discovered by Jang-yeol, and foreshadows the intriguing developments that this revelation might entail. The inclusion of side stories, such as the strained romantic relationship between Ye-boon's aunt Jung Hyeon-ok (Park Seong-yeon) and Deok-hee’s boss Won Jong-mook (Kim Hee-won), along with the enigmatic motives of Dr. Jung Eui-hwan (Yang Jae-seong) campaigning for a local councilman position, adds depth to the storyline.

This K-drama is predominantly a comedy-driven narrative, prioritizing humor over romantic elements, thus rendering it a light-hearted and enjoyable series worth considering for a binge-watch session. The structure of hourly episodes does not impose a tedious or protracted feel, instead maintaining engagement and fascination with the characters' lives.

In conclusion, ‘Behind Your Touch’ has the makings of an entertaining K-drama that artfully combines mystery, humor, and the supernatural. The unique characters, creative storyline, and the promise of evolving relationships set the stage for an enjoyable viewing experience. This show is undoubtedly recommended for those seeking an engaging and fun-filled watch.

Best kdrama I have ever watched! This has comedy, romance, murder mystery, thriller, suspense everything! I loved the plot and the murder mystery stuff was so interesting i couldn't guess who was the serial killer for the first time! Usually I'm able to guess who's the villain or serial killer but this had me confused and than they ended the kdrama reallyy perfectly I would say! Answering all the questions about the murders and giving a cute ending for our characters!
