India's Ravichandran Ashwin took two wickets in one over including Steve Smith for a duck to leave Australia reeling on 94/3 at lunch on Friday's opening day of the second Test.

Friday was a masterclass of how to bowl as a bowling unit with Shami picking up 4/60 to complement Ravichandran Ashwin’s 3/57 and Ravindra Jadeja’s 3/68.
Usman Khawaja made a compact fifty but Ravichandran Ashwin's twin strike gave India the upper hand. Ashwin (2/29 in 10 overs) removed Marnus Labuschagne (18) and Steve Smith (0) in quick succession despite Khawaja's well compiled knock that had eight fours and a six over extra cover off the senior off-spinner.

Every time Australia looked like cracking the code to bat on this surface, India came up with an answer. Ashwin moved to round the wicket and dismissed Australia’s premiere batters Labuschagne and Smith, beating them on the inside edge and the outside edge in the same over leaving the tourists on the edge of at 91/3.

The sheer relentlessness of Ashwin and Jadeja across conditions has stood out in the last half a decade. Social media is abuzz with memes lauding the duo’s tenacity, especially Ashwin’s, who is lovingly referred to as ‘Ash anna’ by fans.
