Mother-Son Emotional Reunion: Man finds long-lost mom during flood rescue operations in Patiala

Last week, flood rescue volunteer Jagjit Singh, experienced a life-changing moment during a mission when he was reunited with his long-lost mother in Patiala. The emotional encounter turned the tide in his favour after years of separation. Jagjit came face to face with Harjit Kaur after more than three decades at his maternal grandparents' home in a Patiala village on July 20. He recorded the meeting on Facebook, confessing he may not be able to control his emotions. Tears flowed as mother and son hugged. In Boharpur village of Patiala, a stroke of luck led to the reunion of mother and son. Jagjit Singh, a devotional singer at the main gurdwara in Qadian, arrived in Patiala with his NGO to assist with flood rescue efforts after the area was ravaged by the monsoon. While Jagjit was in the rescue relief operations in Patiala, one of my aunts told him that my nani's house was also in Patiala. She vaguely revealed that it was Boharpur village where his maternal grandparents might be living. For the elderly Harjit Kaur, who is unable to walk properly due to a leg ailment, it was much more than finding her son. With 37-year-old Jagjit was his wife and their 14-year-old daughter and eight-year-old son. Only five years ago, Jagjit learned that his mother was alive. After his paternal grandfather, who raised him, passed away in 2014, Jagjit stumbled upon a childhood photo with a woman he didn't recognize. His grandfather had previously told him that his parents died in a car accident, but now the truth was revealed.
