As Assam heads towards crucial assembly elections, Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi has sharpened his attack on the BJP, calling for an end to its rule in the state. In a strong political message, he said Congress is ready to offer a viable alternative and build what he described as a “new Assam.” Gogoi accused the ruling party of relying on intimidation, money power and political pressure, and positioned Congress as a force for change. A key part of his strategy is to consolidate opposition votes and prevent division, which has historically benefited the BJP. With Himanta Biswa Sarma at the helm of the BJP government, the upcoming election is expected to be fiercely contested.
