Market close: Sensex tanks 286 points; Nifty50 tests 7,450

Domestic equity indices gyrated between gains and losses all through the day before taking a plunge towards the end of the session, as metals, banking and energy stocks dragged the benchmark indices sharply lower. The 30-share BSE barometre, the Sensex, touched a high of 24,928.96 during the day before ending at 24,539, down 1.15 per cent or 285.83 points.
