Kasautii Zindagii Kay to Sanjivani 2: These popular TV show remakes failed to impress

The trend of remakes is not just limited to Bollywood and music but the television industry has also been producing a lot of remakes of old hit shows. While some of them were able to cast the same spell, some fell flat to impress the audience. Here’s taking a look at the remakes of TV shows that didn’t work.

The original show starring Shweta Tiwari and Cezanne Khan s the lead pair went on to become an iconic show. Ekta Kapoor brought the show back on TV with Erica Fernandes and Parth Samthaan in leading roles. The show has been receiving mixed responses and could not create the same magic as the original one. The show's plot too, is on a different track from the original.

Recently, Sanjivani 2 starring Surbhi Chandna and Namit Khanna is all set to go off-air as it failed to achieve good numbers on the TRP charts. The show also featured the cast of original show Mohnish Bahl and Gurdeep Punj in prominent roles. The show recently took a leap and even after that it didn't make a mark.

Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani starrer Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon was a super successful show and fans loved it for their sizzling chemistry on screen. The show came back with a second season starring Avinash Sachdev and Shrenu Parikh in lead roles which also received good responses. However, the third season fell totally flat. Even though the makes roped in Barun Sobti in the third season opposite Shivani Tomar, viewers didn’t like the show.

The cult comedy show Khichdi starring actors like Anang Desai, Rajeev Mehta, Supriya Pathak, Vandana Pathak and JD Majethia in lead roles was super hit amongst the audience. However, the second season of the show, even with the same cast and concept didn’t receive expected ratings.

The age-old supernatural fantasy television show Chandrakanta returned on TV on not just one but two channels with a different cast at the same time. While in one show Madhurima Tuli and Vishal Aaditya Singh played the leads, in another one Kritika Kamra and Gaurav Khanna were roped in. However, both the shows went off-air due to average ratings.

Featuring Ashok Saraf, Rakhee Tandon, Vidya Balan, Bhairavi Raichura and Vandana Pathak in prominent roles, comedy show Hum Paanch returned on TV with a second season. The second season of this show too saw the same fate as Khichadi and failed to impress the audience.

The original show featuring Reema Lagoo, Rakesh Bedi, Jatin Kanakia and Archana Puran Singh was quite loved by the viewers. The show came back on television with a new title and a new cast featuring Sameer Shah, Sucheta Khanna, Suresh Menon and Barkha Sengupta. However, Shrimaan Shrimati Phir Se could not spread the same magic.
