Jasmin Bhasin talks about the bond she shares with boyfriend Aly Goni and her career plans
Two years ago, on Bigg Boss 14, one saw the real Jasmin Bhasin. She was bubbly and straightforward, but also quite emotional. Recently, in a candid chat, Jasmin told us she has changed since then, but for the better. The actress also spoke about her career plans, daily soaps and her relationship with Aly Goni, which blossomed in the Bigg Boss house. Excerpts:
You have been open about your relationship with Aly, unlike some others in showbiz who prefer to keep their relationship under wraps because they fear it would hamper their career. Has this thought crossed your mind?
I have always been open about my relationship with Aly. My life is an open book. Frankly, my relationship with Aly has never come in the way of my career, rather it has enhanced it as we got to do certain assignments together. My individuality is very much retained. How you conduct yourself and where you draw the line is up to you. Love has a different meaning for different people. For me, friendship and respect are the two most important things in a relationship.
Some time ago, there were wedding rumours, but later, both of you clarified that it was for a promotional activity. But have the two of you discussed marriage and set a rough date in the future?
No. Honestly, we don’t discuss marriage, we only discuss work and at this stage of our careers, work is a priority for both of us. When marriage has to happen, it will happen. Right now, we are concentrating on our work. I am not thinking of marriage for the next four-five years.
How involved is Aly when it comes to your career decisions and vice-versa?
Aly is a very chilled-out guy. I often ask him things and he is always very supportive and motivating. He is a straightforward person like me.
Coming to television, you haven’t been seen in a fiction show for a while now. Dil Se Dil Tak was your last show which ended three years ago. Are you missing being a part of a family drama?
I’m definitely missing being in front of the camera for 26 to 27 days a month. I miss those rigorous shooting schedules and I am sure once I am back, there will be no stopping. Working for a TV soap is a different kind of experience. It’s like dal chawal, one has to have one’s daily dose.
Are movies on your mind, too, now that you have signed a Punjabi film?
The audience got a glimpse of the real Jasmin Bhasin in Bigg Boss 14, someone who was straightforward and quite emotional, too. When you look back, are you happy with your Bigg Boss stint?
I am happy and I have no regrets about my Bigg Boss journey. I have become a stronger, smarter and more confident person. Earlier I was somebody who at times would not voice something, but post Bigg Boss, I became confident. Professionally, too, life has been good, in fact, it’s amazing, so there are no regrets. I live life one day at a time. I have become a better human being with all the experiences. I also believe that behind a celebrity is also a good team and the right people. The vibes of people around us are very important. There is a saying that you are known by the company you keep, and that’s true. Zindagi bahut khoobsoorat hai, jeene ka salika aana chahiye.
