Exclusive - Chahatt Khanna speaks about challenges as single parent during lockdown; says 'Don't have anyone to watch my back'

Coronavirus shook the whole world and elderly people and kids are more prone to the virus, reports suggest. However, this doesn’t make people with strong metabolism an exception for this. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced a 21-day lockdown to curb Covid-19 spread. During this trying time, ETimes TV got single mother Chahatt Khanna talking about the kind of preventive measures she is taking to safeguard herself and two daughters - Zoharr and Myra Mirza. When asked about the message that she would want to give to all the moms in order to tackle this situation, Chahatt said, "Please keep them indoors. Give them household tasks to keep them busy, let them study and play from home and build their immune system." (Photo: Instagram)

The actress, who was seen in the show Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, spoke about how as a single parent, and with no househelp, she is managing home and her daughters. She said, "My coffees keep me up and running, I also practice chanting and meditation, which keeps my energy levels high." (Photo: Instagram)

While there are many who've panicked with the entire scenario, this is how Chahatt is keeping her daughters safe. "I give them haldi in their milk everyday, making them sanitise their hands as much as possible before meals after meals, before they step out, after they come back. Ask the staff who come in daily to wear a mask and come, so when they come they sanitise their hands, I am into sanitising the fruits to cutlery and everything.. also have stopped taking them to the garden in the building since few days they are homebound, no other way out!" shared the actress. When asked if she has consulted the doctors beforehand, the 33-year-old said, "They don't need the doctor as yet." (Photo: Instagram)

She also emphasises on the challenges that are put forth as a single mother. Chahatt said, "It's very difficult to be in the house and there are two kids who want my attention 24 by 7. So, I can't even step out, I can't even do anything. Of course, being a single parent is more difficult because I don't have anyone to watch my back. So, what I am doing is - giving them the household tasks, specially my elder one. I give her credits and I give her the household tasks to complete. With all of this, I am also taking care of their immunity and giving them vitamin C. So, they don't fall sick." (Photo: Instagram)
