Actor Rajdeep Gupta to play the lead in a new TV show?

The leading Bengali television channels seem to be at loggerheads in order to woo the audience with their special entertainment platters. Right from non-fiction to fiction; a lot is in the offerings. Three fiction shows, ‘Shyama’, ‘Tomader Rani, ‘Mili’ are gearing up for premiere on three different channels. On the other hand, Dada Sourav Ganguly will soon return with his hit non-fiction show ‘Dadagiri Unlimited’. And viewers are looking forward to the 10th edition of the hugely popular show that has been remade in Odia and Punjabi too.

The list doesn’t end here. A few shows are in the pipeline too. Industry sources suggest, actor Rajdeep Gupta has been approached for one of those daily soaps. Rajdeep is a popular face on Bengali television, who went on to become a household name riding the success of Bengali TV’s one of the most popular shows, ‘Ogo Bodhu Sundari’ which was launched in 2009. After that he has done multiple TV shows and ‘Ponchomi’ was his last television project which he quit abruptly a few months back. The actor reportedly quit the supernatural drama ‘Ponchomi’ which featured Susmita Dey and Shinjinee Chakraborty opposite him.

According to industry sources, the actress, who lost his mother a few months back, wanted to take a break from work. Meanwhile, his TV show ‘Ponchomi’ came to an end too.

Now Tolly Para is abuzz with the news that Rajdeep has been approached by the makers for their new show which is going to have an ensemble star cast. That’s not all, Rajdeep has given his initial nod to the show too. If everything falls into the place then the team is likely to shoot the promo of the upcoming project shortly.

The actor has done many television shows, movies as well as OTT projects. TV adaptation of ‘Byomkesh’,

'Alpo Alpo Premer Golpo’, ‘Aponjon’, ‘Jhanj Lobongo Phool’, ‘Premer Kahini’, ‘Baksho Bodol’ and ‘Jai Kanhaiya Laal Ki’ are some of hers television shows. On the other hand, ‘Rahasya Romancha’ series, ‘Murder in the Hills’, ‘Uttoron’ and ‘Mahabharat Murders’ are some of his recent OTT projects.
