Huangpu River cruise

The Huangpu River is the largest river passing through Shanghai. It is also known as the mother river of Shanghai. The river divides the metropolitan into east and west districts, Pudong in the east and Puxi in the west. The west bank is the cultural and entertainment hub of Shanghai. The Bund, Monument to the People's Heroes, Waibaidu Bridge and Huangpu Park are located on the west bank. The east bank of the river is the newly developed financial and commercial hub. The Oriental Pearl Tower, Jin Mao Tower and other tall glassy buildings are located on this side of the river. The cruise starts from The Bund and returns there. The best time to embark on a river cruise is in the evening when the city lights come alive. The reflections of glittering skyscrapers make the water of the Huangpu River sparkle in twilight. Take an hour long cruise and admire Shanghai’s urban skyline from the water front. During high tide it is sometimes possible to spot three colours of waters, formed by the convergence of Huangpu River (gray white), Yangtze River (yellow) and the East Sea (green).
