If you want a train ride with a difference, try the Durango Brew Train in Colorado. It is the only answer to an exciting beer vacation on the move. The scenic ride will take you through the stunning mountains of Colorado, and is operated by Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. The locomotive is a classic 20th century revived steam engine and is a two-hour journey through unspoilt wilderness. The best part is that you can drink freshly brewed beer while enjoying the ride.
The train does not run throughout the year; instead, it runs only a couple of times in a year. However, it ran only once in 2018. This year, the train announced an expansion, which means that it is going to run twice during fall; plus, nine more treks into the mountains during summer.
The train starts at Durango, and makes its way to the San Juan National Forest, and the highline is an extraordinary view. Looking out of the train, you can see a 500 ft cliff down to the river. The train also stops at Cascade, and you can go into the forests to enjoy a world of food, and live music! Of course, there’s always beer.
You can expect the best of breweries serving you cold and fresh beers here during your journey through the rocky mountains.
What are the dates?
The Durango beer experience can be taken this summer in the months of June, July, and August. You could book on the following dates - June 15, 22, and 29; July 6, 13, 20, and 27; and August 3, and 10.
Unfortunately, fall trains tickets are sold out, so make your summer bookings soon!
