⁠How woman commandos are fighting a familiar foe in Gadchiroli’s Maoist zone

In Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district, the Wangeturi police station, led by sub-inspector Kalyani Kishore Puttewar, is manned by 11 women commandos who were deployed after rigorous training in jungle warfare. Kalyani, an ace volleyball player, aims to wean village girls away from Maoist propaganda. The police station is a crucial launchpad for anti-Maoist operations and serves as the ground base for the commandos. PD Narote, a tribal woman who survived a Maoist attack, is also deployed at Etapalli police station
