The Season 8.5 update will be followed by the Rivals Summer Festival event on June 18. The event introduces Hellfire Bay Beach, a new social hub in Krakoa where players can take part in activities and earn up to 2,500 units through event participation and login rewards. NetEase has also confirmed new summer-themed skins for characters including Lady Loki, Black Widow, and Spider-Man.Another major addition is Bounty Annihilation, a new 18v18 multiplayer mode featuring the K'un-Lun Shenloong Arena map.
While full gameplay details have not yet been disclosed, the mode will support 36 players per match, making it one of the largest game formats introduced in Marvel Rivals so far.Players will also have access to the Season 1 616 Day Vault between June 12 and June 26, allowing them to obtain select cosmetics originally released between July and September 2025.However, NetEase confirmed that the second phase of the Path to Doomsday event has been delayed until late July, with the third phase now scheduled for mid-October.Season 8.5 will also reshape several team-up abilities. Wolverine is being removed from the Primal Flame team-up and added to a new pairing called Blast Slash alongside Cyclops. The new team-up grants Wolverine additional damage and a spinning slash attack, creating a new combat synergy between the two X-Men characters. The update also includes balance changes affecting a large portion of the roster.Heroes receiving buffs include Blade, Elsa Bloodstone, Human Torch, Namor, Angela, Magneto, Rogue, Cloak and Dagger, Adam Warlock, and Strategist Deadpool. The changes focus on areas such as mobility, survivability, healing, and damage output.Several characters are being toned down, including Black Cat, Devil Dinosaur, Daredevil, Moon Knight, Jean Grey, Star-Lord, Ultron, Gambit, and White Fox.Black Cat's damage, survivability, and Fortune-related abilities have been reduced, while Devil Dinosaur has received adjustments to damage, crowd control, and durability following its strong presence during Season 8.NetEase said the complete patch notes will be released later this week, with final values and cooldown adjustments potentially changing before the update goes live on June 12.With Cyclops joining the roster, the introduction of Bounty Annihilation, and a broad set of hero balance changes, Season 8.5 is set to significantly alter the current Marvel Rivals meta.
