IPL 2017, Live Score: Kolkata Knight Riders vs Mumbai Indians
KKR in trouble with Yusuf exit
Lack of partnerships is hurting KKR at the moment. Everytime someone looks to get going, Mumbai Indians hit back with his wicket. Yusuf Pathan is the latest case in point. After some terrific hitting, one shot too many saw him heading back to the dugout. A flat hit off Vinay Kumar finds Hardik Pandya at mid off.
Lynn wicket puts Mumbai on top
KKR have hit the self-destruct more or what? Chris Lynn, who had played so amazingly, is the fourth and latest wicket to go down for the home team. Lynn had hammered three fours and two sixes, in his typical fashion, before this one from him found substitute fielder J Suchith. And the man with the wicket is a veteran, Vinay Kumar. And he strikes off his first over of the tournament.
KKR three down
And KKR lose a third wicket. This time it's Robin Uthappa. Slightly short from Karn Sharma, and Uthappa goes onto the backfoot. Tries to smash it through covers but hit it straight to the fielder positioned there. KKR have lost another, and this comes off the last ball of the Powerplay.
Johnson sends back dangerous Gambhir
Gautam Gambhir was a man on a mission. He was looking in incredible nick having moved to 21 off 15 before Johnson got his wicket. Gambhir had already taken the left-armer for four boundaries and this must be sweet for the Australian, who bounces him out. Gambhir goes for the pull but a top edge sends the ball miles in the air. As it comes down, Karn Sharma comes right underneath it and takes one of the smarter catches of the tournament.
Rajput strikes in his first over
Rohit Sharma was looking so good, before this slower one from Ankit Rajput got the better of him. The ball came back in after pitching and hit Rohit on his front pad before going on to hit the bat. The finger went up straightaway. The only question there was perhaps height. But it all doesn't matter now. Rohit was looking dangerous. KKR would get a huge lift with that wicket.
Steady progress for Mumbai
The table toppers have begun well. Despite the early loss of Lend Simmons' wicket, Saurabh Tiwary, playing his first game of the IPL, along with his skipper Rohit Sharma have taken Mumbai to 51 at the end of the Powerplay. Rohit, in particular, looks in fine nick. He took Umesh Yadav for 8 runs in one over, barring a leg bye and was ready to use his feet to Narine, not allowing the bowler to settle. A six launched off Umesh brought up Mumbai's fifty. At the other end, Tiwary has collected five boundaries off his own. Some spanking cuts and drives in there.
