Jos Buttler, the English skipper says they wanted to bat. Adds it may swing at the start but he is happy. States it is going to be a good game, a good crowd and he is excited. Informs they are unchanged.
Rohit Sharma, the skipper of India, says it looks like a good track and it seems like it won’t change a lot. Adds it is a series decider and on this tour they have played some good cricket but they got their learnings from last game and they don’t want to repeat those mistakes. Adds they have bowled well in this tour so far and he hopes that continues. Informs they have one change, Bumrah sits out due to injury and Siraj comes in.
England (Unchanged Playing XI) - Jason Roy, Jonny Bairstow, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler (C/WK), Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, David Willey, Craig Overton, Brydon Carse, Reece Topley.
We would have looked to bat. It is great for the series it is 1-1 coming into this game. Lots of positives, we scrapped with the bat to get a defendable total in the last game. We are going with the same team.
India (Playing XI) - Rohit Sharma (C), Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (WK), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammad Shami, Mohammed Siraj (In for Jasprit Bumrah), Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal.
We are gonna bowl first. IT looks like a good track and won't change for the course of 100 overs. It is the series decider and we have played some good cricket on the tour, we took the learnings from the last game. We bowled well in the limited overs, the T20 series as well. Hopefully we can restrict them today to a reasonable target. Bumrah has a niggle, Siraj comes in.
PITCH REPORT - The deck is hard, the pacers will get a good carry. There is some grass on the track as well to not let the heat crack it up.
TOSS - The coin goes up and lands in favour of India. They have opted to BOWL first.
I'm expecting a pretty good atmosphere in Manchester, almost like an away game really, but that's the kind of thing you want to practice. It is a big game, I've just got to prepare for that and hopefully wrap up the series. Especially with a (T20) World Cup in October, you want those 'win or you're out of it' sort of games. It (6/24 at Lord's) was pretty crazy, not something that you necessarily set out for at the start of your career, but it's about backing it up and going again. It's about enjoying the moment but not getting too high and trying to win the series for us. At the end of the day, we're in a series and it's 1-1. I enjoy it, I ride the wave, but there's everything to play for at the weekend. There are so many variables that it's not about saying, 'I'm going to get five today'. At the top of my mark for each ball, it's about how I'm getting in the game. But then you need a lot of things at the other end to go your way.
