England tried to keep it tight and adopted the short deliveries to attack Travis Head but got a taste of their own medicine as the number 3 Test batter in the world went about his business with positive intent. Moeen Ali toiled hard bowling consistently from one end and was rewarded with a wicket for his effort. The pace bowlers did not get much help from the surface but have not allowed the Australian batters to score freely which has helped them stay ahead of the game. The hosts will know that a few quick wickets in the final session will expose the tail of their opponents and they can wrap up the inning at the earliest. SESSION SUMMARY - 110 runs, 30 overs, 1 wicket. Austalia have managed to pull things back after a difficult morning session where they lost three wickets. They now trail by 205 runs and a chunk of the credit has to go to Usman Khawaja who has battled it out in the middle and is creeping towards yet another century having scored 84 runs in 176 balls. He had Travis Head for company for almost an hour as the two added 81 runs in 113 deliveries for the fourth wicket but Head looked to continue showing attacking intent and was dismissed as soon as he reached his half-century. Cameron Green joined Khawaja out in the middle and instantly gave England an opportunity as he charged down the wicket but Jonny Bairstow was not able to collect the ball missing a stumping opportunity. He has looked solid after that point in his short inning so far and Australia will be hoping the two of them can get them as close to England’s total as possible.
