'Simply unacceptable': Supreme Court on video of two women being paraded naked in Manipur
NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Thursday said it was 'deeply disturbed' by the viral video of two women being paraded naked in Manipur and termed the incident 'simply unacceptable'.
The apex court asked the Centre and Manipur government to submit a report by July 28 regarding the steps taken to bring the perpetrators to book and what steps are being taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
"The video may be from the month of May, but that does not make any difference," the CJI said.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta shared CJI's concern and said, "The government is also deeply concerned by the incident. Such incidents are completely unacceptable". "The government has initiated serious steps to bring perpetrators to book immediately after the video surfaced and the court will be informed," the SG added.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed shock over the viral video of women being assaulted in Manipur and said that the guilty won't be spared.
"The incident of Manipur has put 140 crore Indians to shame. I want to assure the people of India that the accused will not be spared," the PM said while speaking to reporters before the start of the monsoon session of Parliament.
A video that went viral on Wednesday, shows two women from one of the warring communities being paraded naked by a few men from the other side.
The widely circulated video also shows men constantly molesting the two women. It has sparked outrage and condemnation across the country.
According to reports, the main accused has been arrested from Manipur's Thoubal district.
Meanwhile, Centre has ordered Twitter as well as other social media platforms to remove the video.
"It is imperative for social media platforms to adhere to Indian laws as the matter is currently under investigation," government sources said.
