Supriya Sule, daughter of NCP chief Sharad Pawar, retained the family bastion of Baramati in western Maharashtra by a margin of over 1.55 lakh votes. Sule polled 6,86,714 votes while her nearest rival Kanchan Kul of the BJP got 5,30,940 votes. Sule polled 52.63 per cent of the votes while Kul garnered 40.69 per cent. Vanchit Bahujan Agadhi's Navnath Padalkar managed to get only 44,134 votes.

With the BJP heading for a resounding victory in Lok Sabha polls, Union minister Nitin Gadkari said on Thursday that people had once again given the party an opportunity to work for the development of the country. As trends suggested an impressive victory for the NDA in the Lok Sabha polls, NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Thursday "gracefully" accepted the mandate, and said he would not blame electronic voting machines (EVMs) for the results. The NCP, as well as other opposition parties, had repeatedly raised concerns over the possibility of EVM tampering earlier.

Heena Gavit of the BJP has won the Nandurbar Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra by defeating her nearest Congress rival K C Padvi by a margin of 95,629 votes. The BJP leader, who retained the seat, had defeated Congress' nine-time MP Manikrao Gavit in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
