A newly revised coronavirus mortality model predicts more than 147,000 Americans will die from COVID-19 by early August, up nearly 10,000 from the last projection, as restrictions for curbing the pandemic are increasingly relaxed, researchers said.

With 74,347 coronavirus cases reported so far, India overtook Canada as the 12th worst-affected country in the world, one spot below China, where the virus had originated. The total death increased to 95 after three deaths were reported on May 12.

Highest number of cases in a day in Bihar so far. The total number of positive cases in the state now stands at 879.
