172 new COVID-19 cases found in Ahmedabad; 167 recover
Gujarat's Ahmedabad district recorded 172 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking its total count to 29,662 on Thursday, the state Health department said. Out of these new cases, 155 were reported from Ahmedabad city and 17 from rural parts of the district, said a release by the Health department.

A number of Serie A players have tested positive for the new coronavirus as they return from their truncated offseason. The latest clubs to announce they have positive cases among their players were Torino with two, and Napoli with one Thursday. Roma and Cagliari confirmed positive cases on Wednesday. All eight players are asymptomatic. Italy reported 845 new cases on Thursday, the highest rise since May 16.

UP records 95 Covid-19 deaths; toll mounts to 2,733
Uttar Pradesh registered a record 95 deaths due to COV ID-19 on Thursday, taking the total fatalities in the state to 2,733. With 4,991 fresh Covid-19 cases, the state's tally climbed to 1,72,334, a government release issued here said.
A director at Moscow's Gamaleya Institute, which developed the vaccine, said 40,000 people would be involved in the mass testing at more than 45 medical centres around Russia. The data is being provided to the World Health Organization (WHO), Dmitriev said, and to several countries that are considering participating in the late-stage trial, including the United Arab Emirates, India, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and the Philippines.
The government and private offices will work at 50 per cent capacity till the end of this month, as per the directives issued by the CM during a video conference meeting to review the Covid situation in the state.

Punjab chief minister Amarinder Singh on Thursday ordered a series of emergency measures, including extension of weekend lockdown, with daily night curfew from 7 pm to 5 am in all 167 cities and towns in the state from tomorrow, August 21.
Emirates will operate repatriation flights to Bengaluru, Kochi, Delhi, Mumbai, and Thiruvananthapuram from August 20-31, 2020. The special flights will be for Indian citizens in the UAE wishing to return home, and for residents of UAE currently in India to return to the UAE.
