The musically inclined Bollywood hunk who owns a piano & drum is now learning to set, strum the guitar. On screen, he's a rockstar all right, but Bollywood hunk Sanjay Dutt may soon become one even off screen, literally. Thanks to his new muse - the guitar, a Led Zeppelin limited edition that is a gift from co-star and friend Rohit Roy. And the actor is taking his love affair with the musical instrument further, by now learning to play it as well.
Ask him about his new muse and he smiles, "I can strum a few strings, but that's about it for now. I hope to be able to play it really well some day. It's a dream I've had ever since I was a child, but never got around to pursuing it somehow."
Incidentally, Dutt also owns a set of drums and a piano that was gifted to him by his close associate and buddy, Sanjay Gupta. Says Gupta, "I had given Sanju the piano for his birthday since he's extremely fond of music. That's one of the things that we both share - a passion for good music." And what is the kind of music that Dutt prefers? "It depends on my mood, really. I love music right from rock to the more soulful numbers," he says. Interestingly, Dutt has lent his voice to Gupta's Alibaug for a track titled Sun Toh Zara. Talking about the song, he says, "Gups insisted and I couldn't refuse. This number is very close to my heart." So will we be seeing him playing the guitar on screen as well? "Haven't you already?" he laughs referring to his previous films. On a more serious note, however, he adds, "As of now I think I'll stick to playing it for my friends and loved ones," he smiles. hyderabadtimes@indiatimes.com
