A BMW, a Tesla, another BMW, and finally a Ferrari.
That was enough to make a recent Instagram video catch the attention of thousands online. But as viewers watched the timeline of cars unfold, many found themselves less interested in the vehicles and more curious about the person behind them. Questions about his profession, career journey, and even whether the cars were bought or leased soon began filling the comments section.
The post was shared by Rishi Mukherjee, an Indian software developer based in the US.
A six-year journey told through four cars
Sharing the video on Instagram, Mukherjee wrote, “My car progression in the US from 2018 to 2026.”
The video offered a snapshot of how his garage changed over time.
In 2020, he owned a 2017 BMW 530i xDrive. By 2023, he had switched to a Tesla Model Y. In 2025, he added a BMW 750e. The latest addition arrived in 2026 when he became the owner of a Ferrari Roma Spider.
The progression quickly caught the attention of viewers.
The comment section had plenty to say
One user jokingly wrote, “Bro had a brief G phase and then quickly figured himself out.”
Mukherjee replied, “I actually have the Tesla, the 7 series, and the Ferrari now. The Tesla is insane with Autopilot. It’s good when I don’t want to drive at all. It does 100% of the driving.
Super convenient.”
Another commenter simply said, “Amazing, bro.”
But among all the reactions, one question appeared repeatedly.
“What do you do for a living, bro?” asked a user.
Mukherjee responded with a short answer: “Software development.”
Bought or leased? Users wanted details
As the discussion continued, another user asked, “Lease?”
Mukherjee explained, “Neither the Ferrari nor the Tesla. Those are bought. BMW, yes. Never buy a 7 Series. Always lease one. Get new every 3 years.”
The response attracted attention from users interested in luxury cars and ownership choices.
The story behind the Ferrari
In an earlier Instagram post, Mukherjee revealed that the Ferrari purchase marked a major personal milestone.
“The Jharkhandi who bought a Ferrari,” he wrote.
According to the post, he and his wife first saw the car at a showroom in 2025. He took a test drive and decided to book it soon after. The vehicle was eventually delivered in January 2026.
Ten years at the same workplace
According to his LinkedIn profile, Mukherjee has been working at Sezzle for the past 10 years.
While the luxury cars attracted the initial attention, it was the story behind the progression that kept the conversation going. From questions about his profession to discussions around buying and leasing vehicles, the post continues to draw interest from users across social media.
