Suraj Venjaramoodu penned an emotional note remembering his close friend
Kalabhavan Navas, who passed away unexpectedly. Suraj recalled that their bond began even before he entered the film industry. “When we first got to know each other, I wasn’t even in cinema,” Suraj wrote. “Back then, bringing the movie star Navasikka as a guest to our stage programmes was the biggest source of pride.”
More than a colleague: A kind-hearted soul
Suraj reflected on the depth of their friendship, describing Navas not just as a talented artist but as “a truly kind-hearted human being who cared deeply for others.” He expressed deep sorrow over not being able to see his friend one last time. “Navas was one of the very few friends who entered my life through cinema,” he shared.
Celebrating a rare talent
Praising Navas's extraordinary versatility, Suraj highlighted his unique ability to switch effortlessly between male and female voices while singing. “He was more than just an impressionist. He was a genuine singer and a complete performer,” Suraj wrote, recalling their many shared stage performances and the joy they found in reminiscing about those times.
A goodbye that came too soon
Suraj also remembered how happy Navas had been in recent years, receiving roles that he truly cherished. “He had shared that happiness with me,” Suraj noted. Reflecting on their final meeting, Suraj said, “Navas just waved and walked away—a goodbye that turned out to be the final one. It’s still hard to believe.”
A message of strength for the Family
The note concluded with a poignant message for Navas’s wife Rehna and their children. “I don’t know what to say to Rehna and the kids. I have no words to comfort them. I just hope they find the strength to get through this pain.”
