Metro Railway Hosts Capacity Building Workshop on Anti-Human Trafficking
A capacity building workshop on anti-human trafficking was organised at Metro Rail Bhavan by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Metro Railway, Kolkata, in collaboration with the National Commission for Women. Subhransu S. Mishra, General Manager, Metro Railway, attended the session as guest of honour and underscored the importance of sustained efforts to combat human trafficking. He noted that such initiatives play a crucial role in bringing clarity and strengthening response mechanisms in day-to-day operations related to prevention. Sudeep Jain, Member Secretary, NCW, who was the chief guest, highlighted the deep social impact of human trafficking, stating that the issue disrupts not just individuals but entire families. He emphasised that even rescuing a single victim is a significant step towards restoring dignity and security. The workshop focused on enhancing awareness, strengthening institutional capacity, and sensitising personnel towards preventing human trafficking, particularly among vulnerable sections of society. Experts from WBNUJS, NGOs, and officials from the Railway Protection Force shared insights on identification, prevention strategies, and coordinated response systems. The initiative reflects Metro Railway’s continued commitment to passenger safety and its role in supporting broader efforts to combat human trafficking.
