The makers of
Emperor Vs Sarat Chandra have released the film's pre-teaser. Directed by filmmaker
Srijit Mukherji the film draws inspiration from a significant chapter in Bengal's literary and political history. The story centres on celebrated novelist Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay and the impact of his controversial novel Pather Dabi, which became a powerful symbol of resistance during British rule.
Coinciding with the approaching centenary of
Pather Dabi, the film explores the clash between colonial authority and the power of literature, while also bringing to life the iconic revolutionary character Sabyasachi Mallick, one of Bengali literature's most enduring figures.
The film features an ensemble cast including Abir Chatterjee, Tota Roy Choudhury, Mimi Chakraborty, Divyani Mondal and Rik Chatterjee. In another notable first, Srijit Mukherji has also composed the film's music and background score, marking his debut as a music composer.
