Kozhikode: CPM central committee member Muhammad Yusuf Tarigami blasted the BJP for damaging the ‘very idea of India’ and creating communal divisions in the country while campaigning in the Muslim pockets in the district.
Tarigami chose to spend majority of his time in the Muslim-dominated areas such as Kattangal, Chaliyam and Puthiyakadavu to ‘expose the designs of the BJP’.
“The Sangh Parivar is knocking at the wrong doors because Kerala is a different place,” he said at the public meeting at Kattangal in Kunnamangalam constituency where LDF-backed independent P T A Rahim is contesting. “The entire BJP brigade, including Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, is descending on Kerala giving big sermons. The BJP has raised issues like ‘ghar wapsi’ and ‘love jihad’ to divert the attention from draught, unemployment and farmer suicides,” he said.
The leader from Kashmir said people in his state chose to stay with India during partition rejecting the call given by Muhammadali Jinnah because they were against the idea of a nation based on religion or language.
“People across the nation are distressed over certain developments. The raid at the Kerala House in Delhi to find out whether beef is served in the canteen is a shame to the entire nation,” he said. Tarigami said the Kerala election has attracted nationwide attention as the country is at a crossroads. “Kerala has to show that the BJP’s machinations will not work here. You should not allow the BJP to sow poisonous seeds in the state,” he said.
