The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the final results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 on March 6, 2026. The final result confirms appointments to the country’s most prestigious administrative services after completion of the Personality Test phase.
The final merit list will determine selection into elite services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Revenue Service (IRS), and several other Group A and Group B central government services.
The announcement will also provide details of cut-off marks, final rankings, and performance of top candidates, offering a complete snapshot of competitive trends in one of the world’s toughest recruitment examinations.
Personality tests conducted at Dholpur House
The Personality Test round, which carries 275 marks, was conducted at UPSC headquarters in Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi, beginning in January 2026.
Unlike written examinations, the interview stage does not have a minimum qualifying mark. Instead, it acts as a differentiating stage where final rankings are determined by combining:
Mains written examination scores
Personality Test performance
Candidates who performed consistently across both stages stand a stronger chance of securing top ranks.
979 Vacancies Notified for 2025 Cycle
For the 2025 recruitment cycle, UPSC has notified 979 vacancies, slightly lower than previous years.
The vacancy distribution includes 38 posts reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, divided into categories:
12 vacancies for blindness and low vision
7 vacancies for hearing impairment
10 vacancies for locomotor disabilities
9 vacancies for multiple disabilities
The structure reflects UPSC’s continued focus on inclusivity in central government recruitment.
Service Allocation After Final Selection
Once the final merit list is released, UPSC will forward recommendations to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) for service allocation.
Rank, category reservation, and candidate preferences recorded in the Detailed Application Form (DAF-II) will determine service posting.
Selected candidates will then begin training programmes:
IAS officers → Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie
IPS officers → National Police Academy, Hyderabad
IFS officers → Diplomatic training programmes in New Delhi
The probation period typically lasts two years and focuses on practical governance training.
UPSC final result details
The UPSC final result is widely considered a reflection of academic rigour combined with administrative aptitude. The selection process evaluates not only knowledge but also decision-making ability, ethical reasoning, and leadership temperament.
During the Personality Test, candidates are often assessed through real-world governance scenarios rather than textbook-based questioning.
