KOLKATA: The India A squad for the England tour, to be picked up on the morrow, is likely to have India coach John Wright accompanying them. The 75-day sojourn, which will have 'Test' matches, begins from June 22. According to well-placed sources, the BCCI boss Jagmohan Dalmiya will finalise with the five wise men how to use Wright for this assignment.
With the senior team free till October, this tour will offer Wright a scope to take a look at the fringe players he doesn't know much about, BCCI sources said. Meanwhile, the India A squad is certain to see a new coach as well skipper from the squad which toured the West Indies during the last World Cup. It's almost certain that Ashok Malhotra, who toured the Caribbean and was subsequently 'promoted' as the assistant coach of the senior team to Bangladesh last month, will make way for a new incumbent. Speculation is already rife as to who could take over, even though Chandrakant Pandit has suddenly emerged as a dark horse.
