Two persons, including a woman and her son were crushed to death and two others suffered injuries when boulders fell on their houses at Ganapathinagar under Gajuwaka police station limits in Visakhapatnam on Sunday night following the heavy rain.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Two persons, including a woman and her son were crushed to death and two others suffered injuries when boulders fell on their houses at Ganapathinagar under Gajuwaka police station limits in Visakhapatnam on Sunday night following the heavy rain.
The incident took place at night when the woman and her other family members were sleeping at their home located near a hill in the city.

Some boulders came rolling down the hill on to their house, causing its asbestos roof to collapse. The woman and her son got trapped under the boulders and died on the spot.
The deceased were identified as Ramalakshmi, said to be a pregnant woman and her three-year-old son Gnaneswar. Two others of the same family suffered injuries in the incident.
The police with the support of fire service personnel retrieved the bodies from the spot and shifted to the morgue for post mortem. The injured persons were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Heavy rains have been lashing in parts of the Visakhapatnam since Sunday.
In December 2015, four people belonging to two families were crushed to death when a huge boulder broke off from the hill abutting their house at Sanjeevaiah Nagar colony of the Thatichetlapalem area in Visakhapatnam following the heavy rain.
