Visakhapatnam: The Port City has been a favourite hunting ground for Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni ever since he made the world sit up and take notice with his blistering 148 in the one-day international against Pakistan, which, incidentally, India had won by 58 runs here in 2005.
The Jharkhand lad, who had then batted at No.3 in a team led by Sourav Ganguly and comprising the likes of Rahul Dravid, has come a long way since.

"It was like playing with emotions,'' said CR Mohan, ACA media manager, recalling Dhoni's blinder. "Any match with Pakistan is a high-voltage clash and at that time India were down, but Dhoni made the difference and his knock gave India the confidence they so needed. It also lifted the morale of the team and the Indian fans as well," he added.
From being a rookie to leading India to a title win in the inaugural World T20 in South Africa in 2007, also India's only triumph in the shortest format, winning the 50-over World Cup in 2011 to give Sachin Tendulkar a fond farewell gift, and taking India to the pinnacle of Test cricket, life has come a full circle for Dhoni, who had after the Melbourne Test during India's tour down under in 2014 announced that he wouldn't don whites again.

With Virat Kohli being handed over the reins in Test cricket, the media has been abuzz of late. The poor show in the recent one-day series against Australia only compounded Dhoni's woes, but 'Mahi' responded in the best way possible: by annihilating Australia in the T20 international series that followed the ODIs.
With the Asia Cup and the World T20 to be hosted by India nearly upon us, the Indian selectors pinned their faith in the 34-year-old from Ranchi and he seemed to have found his mojo back after the minor aberration in Pune, where India lost the first of the three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka by five wickets.
Totally at home in Ranchi, Dhoni and his boys put the young Sri Lankan side in their place with a crushing win that showed the Indian skipper in total control. Victory then followed the team to Vizag.
The Ballots matches to associations by rotation and Vizag's next chance at international cricket wouldn't be until later this year when India hosts New Zealand in an ODI.
