VIJAYAWADA: The Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) is now concentrating its efforts on the development of a theme park at Ajith Singh Nagar. The foundation for the project was laid by municipal affairs minister Botcha Satyanarayana. The project is estimated to cost Rs 15 crore.
Now, the VMC has released the design of the proposed park on social media platforms.
The park will have the theme: ‘Connecting people-nature-environment’. The total site area of 13.75 acres has been divided into 13 zones. All zones of the park will connect to pedestrian pathways.
The park will have a performance area, a central park, a place for children to play in, food zones and a nursery. The performance area will have an open-air theatre. The food zone will be developed in 3,500 sq metres area.
The garden will be developed with different themes— a Japanese garden, an orchid garden, a cactus garden, a garden of medicinal plants and a garden of sculptures.
An ecology museum will also be developed in seven zones. This will consist of a natural history zone, a human ecology zone, a social ecology zone, a conservation ecology zone, a community health zone, a biotic components zone and a zone for human social interaction.
Further, three water bodies will be developed in the park as well as two zones that will aim to emulate the experience of forest walks. Nearly Rs 10 crore has already been allocated to the park from the 14th Finance Commission funds.
