Vijayawada: A 2012-batch IAS officer, V Vijaya Ramaraju, assumed charge as the commissioner of Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) on Saturday at its headquarters in Rayapudi, Amaravati. After performing traditional rituals at the commissioner's chamber on the fifth floor of the CRDA headquarters, Vijaya Ramaraju formally took charge in the presence of additional commissioner A Bhargava Teja, director (office management) Vallabhaneni Srinivasa Rao, and other senior officials. Officers from various departments greeted and felicitated him on the occasion.
Soon after assuming office, the new Commissioner conducted a review meeting with heads of departments to assess key issues related to APCRDA and the progress of capital development works in Amaravati. Following the complaints from the farmers and various contractors, the state govt recently axed 2006-batch IAS officer, Kannababu as commissioner and brought Vijayaramaraju to head the crucial institution of the capital city.
