Visakhapatnam: The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is spending about Rs 19 crore on beautification works for the International Fleet Review, scheduled for next week in Visakhapatnam. While some works are newly initiated, several are a continuation of projects undertaken for the Investors Summit held in Nov 2025.
GVMC commissioner Ketan Garg said that over 90% of the works being carried out for the IFR are permanent in nature, including road, footpath, and median development, greenery works, lighting, drain diversion, and drain coverage.

"The remaining works will include enhanced sanitation measures and additional LED lighting for the events. All projects are in their final stages. The 119 works cover various components such as roads, sanitation, greenery, painting, and more," Garg added.
"During the events, sanitation workers will ensure the continuous removal of waste along the beach road and the beach area. Streetlights and solar lighting will be fully operational under continuous supervision. Engineering and horticulture officials are undertaking footpath repairs, completing painting works and road markings, and ensuring that centre medians are kept clean and attractively maintained. Officials from the engineering, town planning, and public health departments are working in close coordination, ensuring that all related works are completed promptly," added Garg.
