Notorious criminal nabbed

VARANASI: Dasaswamedh police on Tuesday nabbed a notorious criminal, Rambabu Yadav, from Kharikua area with a .9mm pistol and some narcotic substance. He had recently killed a tea vendor, Gopal Yadav, in Dasaswamedh area.
Producing Rambabu before journalists, SP (city) M S Chauhan said that acting on a tip off, Dasaswamedh inspector Shailendra Singh, along with a heavy police force, cordoned off Kharikua area in the morning.The cops nabbed Rambabu, on whom a cash reward of Rs 10,000 was announced, when he was passing through this area. He was wanted for his involvement in 14 cases of murder, attempt to murder and other crimes. He was also booked under Gangster Act in 2009. He and his gang members were active in Varanasi and Azamgarh districts.
The police had intensified efforts to nab him after it was found that he was involved in Gopal Yadav murder case.
During interrogation, Rambabu confessed that he and his accomplices Sunny Singh and Rajan Yadav killed Gopal. Rambabu was closely associated with Gopal for the past several years. He had given a pistol to Gopal to keep it safely. But when he asked Gopal to return the pistol, the latter denied to do so. This irked Rambabu.
The SP (city) said that efforts to nab Rambabu's accomplices have been intensified.
