Vadodara: A man allegedly involved in stealing mobile phones from different parts of the city was arrested by police on Sunday. The accused, identified as Vikram Koli, a resident of Karodia Road in the city, would conduct recce of various bridges and flyovers before committing the thefts.
Police said they received information about Koli, following which he was tracked down in the Bajwa area. When the police recovered a mobile phone from him, Koli failed to produce its purchase bill. During questioning, he admitted that he had stolen the phone from a labourer sleeping under a bridge in the city.
Koli told police that he would roam around under bridges and flyovers and steal mobile phones from labourers sleeping there. He also broke into two houses and stole mobile phones. According to police, he sold the stolen phones outside the state so that they could not be easily traced.
Police said Koli has more than 10 offences registered against him at various police stations in Kutch and Vadodara. Further investigation is underway to ascertain whether he was involved in more thefts in and around the city.
