The former deputy mayor, who switched sides from Janta Dal United to BJP recently — is known to take a tough stance on issues despite being from the ruling party. Mehta said that his queries had revealed that the hot mix plants that prepared material for the asphalt roads and their repairs were not functioning.
According to Mehta, the plant at Harni was closed for maintenance while that at Atladara was also not functioning. Mehta's letter to the VMC commissioner states that plants were kept shut in monsoons and their maintenance was done, but this time around the situation was different.
