Couple injured as bus rams two-wheeler

VADODARA: A VITCOS bus rammed into a two-wheeler on the Lalbaug overbridge on Tuesday night, leaving two injured.
The accident happened on the far end of the bridge towards Manjalpur. Soon after the accident, angry locals gathered around the bus and started pelting stones at the vehicle. Policemen had to rush to the spot to take control of the situation.
According to the police, Rajendra Patel and his wife Varsha were travelling on a two-wheeler towards Manjalpur. The bus rammed into the two-wheeler from behind following which the duo was flung in air. Varsha suffered major injuries on her legs and head. She and her husband were rushed to nearby hospital. Driver of the bus fled from the spot as he feared that he would be attacked by the crowd.
The Lalbaug overbridge has witnessed several minor accidents, especially towards the far end of the bridge that ends at Manjalpur crossroads. The traffic police posted at the spot are barely seen controlling the traffic during nights. At times, the traffic cops simply disappear from the spot.
